“I feel it’s very important to show people the treasures we have in our oceans, how fragile they are and the importance of protecting them."
Ray Collins is an international award winning Seascape photographer from Australia. Ray says: “Like all art, it is interpreted differently for different people, but overall my aim is to make the viewer “feel” something. It doesn't necessarily always have to be a nice feeling, just some kind of emotional impact.
“As far as the impact of what's being viewed… It would be my worst nightmare for the ocean to become a floating garbage patch. It scares me to think that our grandchildren might not be able to appreciate the beauty we take for granted.”
Ray has been the recipient of the prestigious 'Follow The Light Grant' (2009), placed 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the ‘Australian Surf Photo of the Year' (2012), Semi Finalist in the 'Moran Portraiture Prize'(2012) named ’Emerging Sport Photographer of the Year’ (2013), Placed 1st in the 'California Academy Of Sciences - Big Picture Awards' (2014), Portfolio Of The Year 'The Inertia'(2014), 'Overall Winner' and 'Best of Show' in 'TheOcean Art Photo Competition'(2015), 1st Place ‘Australian Surf Photo of the Year' (2015), 'Juror's Award' - 'The Center for Fine Art Photography - USA' (2015), Shortlisted Finalist for the prestigious 'Smithsonian - Annual Photo Contest' (2015).
Franck Gazzola / Under The Pole
Franck Gazzola is an Australia based Professional Nikon Photographer specialised in Adventure, Travel & Lifestyle photography.
From 60 meters below the sea ice, to the surface where the waves break, or up to 6000 meters altitude, Franck Gazzola finds fulfilment in shooting in tricky conditions to bring back images from the roads less travelled of angles less often seen.
Self-taught, he discovered the Art of Photography in his teenage years in the darkroom. Only years later, after he had travelled the world, he made photography his hobby again. Quickly, this passion took him over completely, and it became his full-time career.
Franck Gazzola is currently in charge of the imagery & the documentary/editorial photography for the ''Under The Pole III'' expedition, an innovative underwater expedition going around the globe from pole to pole from 2017 to 2021. Although the past expeditions in which he took part were focused on the Arctic and brought the Under the Pole team international recognition for their expertise in polar diving, the current expedition, UTP III • 2017-2021 is roaming worldwide.
Even if expeditions are the ultimate assignment for this outdoor photographer, Franck Gazzola spendsthe rest ofhis time in Bondi, Australia curating and managing the Frothers Gallery, specialised in Ocean imagery from around the world (based in Bondi Beach, Australia), as well as shooting for Advertising/Commercial assignments.
