OCEAN WILDLIFE WATERCOLOUR WORKSHOP

WHEN: Saturday 21 March 2026

2-4pm

WHERE: Seagull Room, Bondi Pavilion

Adults Workshop

Dive into creativity at the Ocean Lovers Festival with a series of hands-on watercolour workshops. Led by Margot Hislop of Mango SEA, these sessions blend art, ocean science, and a love for local marine wildlife, perfect for budding artists, those wishing to gain a few more skills and techniques, nature lovers, and anyone curious about the world beneath the waves.

Across each session, participants will:
* Learn basic drawing techniques and how to work with watercolour paints
* Explore different tools, papers, brushes, and painting methods
* Discover fascinating facts about Bondi’s local ocean wildlife
* Create a finished artwork to take home
* Contribute to a beautiful group artwork celebrating ocean health and biodiversity

No experience required - beginners welcome!

Suitable for Age 18+

Participants will choose a local marine species such as a Port Jackson Shark, Sydney Octopus, Weedy Seadragon, Eastern Blue Grouper, or humpback whales, as it is the start of their northerly migration, and use it to explore foundational sketching skills and watercolour techniques.

The workshop also includes light ocean science discussions and group reflections on how the ocean shapes our lives.

Each person will take home their artwork and add a message or drawing to a whale-tail group piece displayed during the Festival.
