Each March, Ocean Lovers brings tens of thousands of Australians together to experience the ocean through science, creativity and hands-on discovery. Our flagship Ocean Lovers Festival showcases world-leading research and practical solutions for ocean health — where people live, learn and gather.

Beyond the festival, Ocean Lovers is a year-round platform for ocean education, community engagement and action. We work with schools, scientists, industry, government and creatives to build ocean literacy, inspire behaviour change and support real solutions for a healthier ocean.

 

Why this matters
The ocean produces half the oxygen we breathe and is our most powerful climate regulator yet it receives less than 1% of global environmental philanthropic funding. In Australia, ocean health remains widely misunderstood and undervalued. When people don’t understand the ocean, they don’t protect it.
