INVESTIGATE

SHIP IN A BOX BY CSIRO

A FREE IMMERSIVE SCIENCE EXPERIENCE

WHEN: Thursday 19 -Sunday 22 MARCH 2026

WHERE: Dolphin Court, beside Bondi Pavilion

INVESTIGATE is an immersive marine science experience that invites you to dive a little deeper into our amazing marine environment.

Ride the waves in an Antarctic storm, fly through the atmosphere on a data-stream and dive into the abyss to uncover the mysteries of the deep. INVESTIGATE is an immersive marine science experience designed to educate, engage and inspire.

Join us aboard Australia’s advanced ocean research vessel (RV) Investigator, operated by CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, without getting your feet wet!

INVESTIGATE has been built in a repurposed shipping container, similar to the containerised science laboratories that are used on RV Investigator. It offers visitors a unique 3D multimedia experience, with the container’s roof and walls being equipped with video screens and a state-of-the-art sound system.

INVESTIGATE offers an entertaining and informative experience for all audiences. Visitors are taken on an immersive cinematic journey above and below the waves to explore the marine environment and the research that we deliver with RV Investigator.

The presentations have been developed for a general audience and include factual information as well as highly engaging visuals for younger (and older!) audiences. Visitors can dive into topics like oceanography, marine biology and seafloor mapping.

Come aboard and explore this ship in a box at Ocean Lovers Festival. This immersive experience will be free for the public from Thursday 19 March - Sunday 22 March.

You don't need to book - just turn up!

Please note that there is limited capacity within the container so entry will be monitored by our volunteers!
