LIVING SEAWALLS
TOUR

WHEN: Sunday, 15 March 2026 | 2-3pm
WHERE: Fairy Bower Pool (Marine Parade & Bower Lane, Manly)

Join a tour of the Living Seawalls Fairy Bower installation located in Manly to learn how innovative habitat panels developed from 20 years of research are revitalising marine ecosystems impacted by human development.

Professor Melanie Bishop will be leading the tour where you’ll explore the installation up close during low-tide. Professor Bishop is the Living Seawalls Co-Lead, a marine ecologist at Macquarie University and former NSW Scientist of the Year. She will share how Living Seawalls are repairing urban coastal ecosystems across the world, by providing habitat for snails, crabs, oysters, mussels and seaweeds.

Living Seawalls were finalists for the 2021 Earthshot Prize, a prestigious environmental award established by the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The location is a 15 minute walk from the Manly ferry wharf. The meeting place is Fairy Bower Beach, intersection of Marine Parade (coastal walkway) and Bower Lane, Manly.
