OCEAN DISCOVERY ZONE

WITH
FRIENDS OF BONGIN BONGIN BAY

WHEN:  Saturday 7 March 2026 | 9.00am - 3.00pm

WHERE: Manly Beach

Dive into a day of ocean discovery and adventure as the Ocean Lovers Festival invites you to experience the magic of our underwater world - brought to life by the passionate Friends of Bongin Bongin Bay.

The Ocean Discovery Zone is a playful, hands-on space where science meets creativity and curiosity leads the way, completely free of charge. Through interactive activities, immersive experiences and creative play, children and adults are encouraged to connect with the ocean, learn about local marine life and discover how they can help caring for it.

  • Custodian of the Ocean Badge Quest – Complete quick colouring challenge and quiz and be inducted as an official Custodian of the Ocean

  • Virtual Reality Underwater Ride – Dive beneath the surface and explore local marine life through immersive underwater footage (Free and no wetsuit required!)

  • Build a Giant Kelp Artwork – Add your “Hope for the Ocean” to a growing community Giant Kelp installation

  • Marine Discovery – Investigate shells, seagrass and ocean artefacts like a real marine scientist

  • Ocean-Themed Face Painting – Transform into a cuttlefish, blue groper or eagle ray and learn about the species you wear.

Designed for curious minds and families, this zone turns learning into play, empowering the next generation of ocean lovers to care and connect.

Activities run throughout the day from 9:00am – 2:00pm.

Delivered by Friends of Bongin Bongin Bay, a registered charity dedicated to establishing marine sanctuary zone at Bongin Bongin Bay (Mona Vale NSW) by the end of 2027. If you wish, you will be able to sign a petition to declare a marine sanctuary zone by the NSW Parliament.

Come explore, create and discover - the ocean’s future is in your hands!
